If you\u2019re struggling with network connectivity issues, however, then the only way to <a href=\"https:\/\/helpdeskgeek.com\/8-easy-to-do-ways-to-troubleshoot-network-connection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"8887\">troubleshoot your connection<\/a> may be to reset your network devices back to the default settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do this using Windows\u2019 built-in network resetting tool, found in the Windows Settings menu. This will reset your network devices, as well as other important components required for network connectivity, such as your TCP\/IP stack. This will reset your network adapters and other network settings and protocols like your TCP\/IP stack, which is essential for allowing your PC to make connections with other devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve made any changes to your network configuration, you\u2019ll need to restore these after you reset your devices. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clear-DnsClientCache<\/strong> &#8211; this will reset your current DNS cache.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get-NetAdapter<\/strong> &#8211; this will show a list of available network adapters on your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disable-NetAdapter -name \u201cname\u201d<\/strong> &#8211; this will disable a network adapter, replacing <strong>\u201cname\u201d<\/strong> with the name of your chosen adapter (found using <strong>Get-NetAdapter<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enable-NetAdapter -name \u201cname\u201d<\/strong> &#8211; this will enable a network adapter. This command can follow an issued <strong>Disable-NetAdapter<\/strong> command to restart a network device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ipconfig \/release<\/strong> &#8211; this will <a data-lasso-id=\"8892\" href=\"https:\/\/helpdeskgeek.com\/release-and-renew-an-ip-address\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release your current IP address<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ipconfig \/renew <\/strong>&#8211; this will renew your IP address after being released.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>netsh winsock reset <\/strong>&#8211; this will reset your PC\u2019s Winsock settings (used to help apps and other services on a Windows PC communicate on a network).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>netsh int ip reset <\/strong>&#8211; this will reset your PC\u2019s TCP\/IP stack (the essential components used for Windows networking).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>netcfg -d<\/strong> &#8211; this will remove all current network devices and their active connections and configurations. This is a similar, last-resort option to the Windows Settings method listed for resetting your network configuration shown above, and will require a PC restart afterwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To run any of these commands, type them into the PowerShell window and hit enter.
