Microsoft Excel offers you several ways to copy a cell\u2019s format. For example, <a target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/ms-office-tips\/use-format-painter-word-copy-paste-formatting\/\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"47295\">Format Painter<\/a> is a direct way of copying the formatting of one cell and applying it to another. Copy Formatting in Excel with Paste Special\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you want to copy cells in Microsoft Excel, you notice there are several paste options at your disposal. Paste Formatting allows you to copy only the formatting of the cell, but not its content. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s see how it works in an example. Right-click the selected cell, and click the arrow next to the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Paste Special <\/span>option in the menu.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the icon for formatting. In that case, you\u2019ll have to select the range of cells to which you want to apply the copied formatting.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Copy Formatting in Excel with Format Painter\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Format Painter is the most helpful tool in Microsoft Excel if you want to copy cell formatting. It can help you reproduce all formatting settings such as Number format, Font size, face, and color, cell background color, text alignment, and more. Here\u2019s how you can use this tool to copy cell formatting to other cells in your worksheet:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Select the cell from which you want to copy the formatting.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Home<\/span> tab and find the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Format Painter<\/span> tool in the Clipboard group. You\u2019ll select the header of the sample column, select the Format Painter tool, and then click the header of the target column. Copy Cell Formatting with the Drag and Drop Menu\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Drag and Drop menu is a neat feature that\u2019ll allow you to quickly move the formatting from one cell to another. Here\u2019s how you can do it:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Select the sample cell from which you want to copy formatting.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move your cursor to the right border of the selected cell. Your cursor should change into four arrows pointing in different directions.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click your mouse and hold the button down. Copy Formatting with Fill Handle\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fill handle is a useful Excel feature users can use to auto-fill cells or copy formulas. But it can also be used to copy the Excel formats. Here\u2019s how:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Select the cell from which you want to copy the format.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover your cursor over the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">fill handle<\/span> at the bottom-right corner of the selection.
