We\u2019ll show you how to lock screen on Chromebook in several different ways, as well as a couple of different ways to unlock your screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Lock Screen on Chromebook\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are actually six different ways to lock your Chromebook screen, depending on your preferences. We\u2019ll explain each method below, so you can choose the one that works best for you.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Use the Power Button<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to lock your Chromebook screen.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press and hold the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Power <\/span>button.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Use the Lock Key<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s another easy way to lock screen on Chromebook if you\u2019re stepping away for a few minutes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press and hold the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock key<\/span> on your Chromebook keyboard.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After around two seconds, your Chromebook screen should lock.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Close the Lid<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can simply close the lid of your Chromebook to lock your screen. You\u2019ll need to ensure that the options to lock your screen when the lid is closed are enabled, though. Here\u2019s how to do that.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">clock <\/span>in the lower-right corner of your screen and select the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Settings <\/span>gear icon.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Security and Privacy<\/span>, select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock Screen and Sign-In<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your Google account password and click <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Confirm<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn on the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock When Sleeping or Lid is Closed<\/span> toggle.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/top-6-ways-to-lock-your-chromebook-screen-2-compressed.png\" data-lasso-id=\"52313\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/top-6-ways-to-lock-your-chromebook-screen-2-compressed.png\" alt=\"How to Lock Screen on Chromebook image\" class=\"wp-image-98518\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Use the Magnifying Glass<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s another quick and easy way to lock your Chromebook screen.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Magnifying Glass key + L<\/span> on your Chromebook keyboard.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Chromebook screen should now be locked!\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Click the Clock<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s another quick way to lock your Chromebook screen.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the clock in the lower right corner of your screen.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Walk Away<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your Chromebook is inactive for a period of time, your screen will turn off and then your Chromebook will sleep. This is not the best option if you\u2019re using your Chromebook in a public place, as somebody could access your Google account and other information before the screen locks. You also need to ensure that you have turned on the Lock When Sleeping function, as described above.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you\u2019re at home or another secure location, you may find this is the lock method you end up relying on most often. The amount of time for your screen to turn off and go to sleep varies depending on whether your Chromebook is plugged in or not.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Plugged in:<\/span> Your screen will turn off after eight minutes and your Chromebook will go to sleep after 30 minutes.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Not plugged in: <\/span>Your screen will turn off after six minutes and your Chromebook will go to sleep after 10 minutes.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Show the Lock Screen on Waking\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You always want to ensure that your Chromebook shows the lock screen when it wakes up. This ensures that nobody else can access anything on your Chromebook \u2014 including your Google account. By default, the lock screen is set to show when your Chromebook wakes up. Using your phone is generally the speedier option, provided you don\u2019t leave your phone lying around.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Unlock Your Screen with a PIN\/Password<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While you can use your Google password to unlock your screen, we\u2019d recommend using a PIN. It\u2019s easier and quicker to enter, especially if your 2-in-1 Chromebook is in tablet mode. Here\u2019s how to set up a PIN on your Chromebook.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">clock <\/span>at the bottom right of your screen and select the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Settings <\/span>gear icon.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Security and Privacy<\/span>, select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Lock Screen and Sign-In<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your Google password, then click <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Confirm<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">PIN or Password<\/span> &gt; <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Set up Pin\n<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your PIN of choice (six digits or more). \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Continue<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Re-enter your PIN, then select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Confirm<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The next time your Chromebook wakes up, you can log in using this PIN instead of your Google password.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Unlock Your Screen with Your Phone<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also connect your Android phone to your Chromebook so your screen will unlock when your phone is nearby. Here\u2019s how to do that, but first, you\u2019ll need to ensure you\u2019re running the most recent versions of Chrome and Android. You\u2019ll also need to be signed in to your Google account on your phone and Chromebook, and have Bluetooth enabled on both devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">clock <\/span>at the bottom right of your screen, then select the <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Settings <\/span>gear.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Connected Devices<\/span>, find <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Android Phone<\/span> and select <span style=\"font-weight:bold\">Set Up<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the menu on the left, select the phone you want to connect.
